A Cavani treble & Zlatan double helps PSG to a 6-0 win
Edinson Cavani scored a hat-trick during Paris St-Germain 6-0 romp against Guingamp. Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored twice and assisted two other goals. Maxwell also got one. Final score PSG 6 Guingamp 0.
PSG are in the hunt to do what no other French team has done before, to win all four French titles. They already have the Champions Trophy and the Community Shield and will play this Saturday in the final of the French Cup. They are also just two wins away from a Ligue 1 title which they have won in the last two seasons. If they win this season’s league title, then they will also have the honour of a hat-trick of consecutive league titles.
For both Edinson Cavani and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, winning all four titles would put them in the record books and unless there is a big upset, they should be able to acheive this from where their team is positioned. PSG are currently sitting on 77 points with their nearest rivals Lyon sitting on 71.
Could PSG be any better? Well they did lose out to Barcelona in the Champions League, so they are not quite at the level of Messi’s team . However, it has been widely reported that PSG have made an offer for soccer sensation Paul Pogba and with Barcelona supposedly dropping out of the bidding war for the Paris born player, PSG have become favourites to sign him. If Paris sign him, then PSG could rival the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona.
Pogba originally played for Manchester United but was bought by Juventus whom he currently plays for. With his contract expiring, his agent has put Pogba up for sale and some very big clubs came calling. He is a central midfielder, but is comfortable playing in attack and defence. He has been compared to French legend Patrick Vieira and was named as one of Europe’s top ten most promising players by The Guardian.
