Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez joins Man Utd in swap deal with Mkhitaryan
Manchester United have signed Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez in a swap deal with Manchester United midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
Sanchez will wear the number seven shirt for the Red Devils and will see him line up with the likes of Romelu Lukaku, Anthony Martial, and Zlatan Ibrahimović. Zlatan Ibrahimovic is however rumoured to leave Manchester United before the end of the season.
So how does this deal stack up for both teams. Well an all round swap deal doesn’t seem even given that Sanchez is one of the best forwards in the game today. But the Chilean has nearly let his contract run down, so Arsenal had little choice. They could have held onto Sanchez and got nothing for their prized striker or do this swap deal earlier and at least get something back. Clearly the deal is best for both teams given that Sanchez wants to leave Arsenal. How happy Mkhitaryan is with the swap deal is still unknown, but his agreement of the deal might be a matter of getting game time with Arsenal vs little time on the field with United.
Our take on this deal is Mkhitaryan has Arsenal genes and will do well at the club. He is an attacking player and didn’t really suit José Mourinho’s defensive style of play. With the possible addition of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang soon, Arsenal will be a new team and should do better in the remainder of their season.
