Neymar instrumental in Brazil’s 5-0 destruction of Bolivia
Neymar scored his 300th goal in his career and 49th for Brazil at senior level when he scored in his country’s World Cup qualifier match on Friday. He also set up two more goals to help Brazil put 5 goals past Bolivia.
That is three wins from three games for Brazil in the qualifiers and Neymar’s performance was instrumental as usual. However, he was cited for dissent which he says was due to an excessive amount of fouls in the game. The Barcelona striker will now miss the World Cup qualifier match against Venezuela on Tuesday. With that absence, Neymar will have missed half of Brazil’s qualifiers. Some criticize Neymar for his behavior on the field and say that he needs to show more maturity. Even Brazil coach Tite had this to say:
“There were mistakes from the referee, with an excess of fouls derived from a lack of punishment to them,” Tite told a news conference.
“And we — Neymar and me — we need maturity to understand that we’ll have to bear these kind of situations, too.
“The team must be strong without Neymar. It is inhumane to put everything on Neymar,”
Brazilian teammates and Liverpool player makers Philippe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino also had a great game and got one goal apiece.
